Description of the activity

The event was held in the Classic Hotel in Nicosia with European Youth from Slavic countries. The focus group focused on youth perspectives about the European Union, what it means to be European for future accession countries and the European political and cultural response towards migrants and refugees and what are popular stereotypes regarding the way we treat migrants/refugees as a society.

The methodology used was participatory discussions through the use of e portals by the European union, Eurostat, other European projects etc.

European youth have identified a number of important areas of improvement in dealing with the stereotypes that allow migrants and refugees to be painted in a hateful light. They also discussed the idea of European identity as the fundamental basis of European citizenship and the guiding principle that informs all decisions.
